training guide For utah state university's engineering writing center

I have been the manager at Utah State University’s Engineering Writing Center for three years. As such, I perform all training for new employees. I created this training guide to provide new employees a comprehensive guide of their duties, the writing center itself, and tips and tricks of how to be an effective writing tutor. It also provided me with an outline for new consultant training, which took several hours over the course of a week to complete. In Fall 2020, I added new sections to include how to operate effectively as an online writing tutor when I moved the entire center online as a COVID-19 safety precaution. Although I primarily wrote the training guide myself, I collaborated with two professors at the university to edit the document.

The document utilizes first, second, and third level headings for easy reading and organization. My goal was to create a document that a new employee could read thoroughly and completely in one sitting and have a complete comprehension of their duties. I have used this guide for all training sessions with great success. I ask for feedback after training from both new and experienced employees to create the best possible training guide.
